DPA’s Classic Take On Kick Microphones With More Versatility
DPA 4055 takes the concept of kick drum mics and overturns the traditional notion of a pre-tailored capture, allowing you to take the sound sculpting into your own hands.
Its bass response and dynamics are excellent, resulting in a tight, natural and well-defined sound – excellent low end with detailed mids and highs.
The 4055 not being sonically tuned gives engineers the ability to take sound design further, accomodating any genre. If you need more attack slide the 4055 directly in the kick drum pointed straight at the the beater. Placing it directly just outside the front head will produce a huge low end where the sub frequencies are most pronounced and felt.
Don’t worry about durability or performance. The microphone is housed in a large, rugged body with damping foam in front of the capsule behind the grille. A shock mount also holds the capsule within the body, eliminating vibrations from the stage or surroundings.
The 4055 is not limited to just capturing kick drums. It works equally as well on other instruments, like guitar amps, bass and horns. The flat frequency response and ability to take a colorless sound to the next level meshes well with many kinds of sources.
